PostSubject: MP's reassurance over Mogden Pong.   Thu Aug 09, 2007 6:43 pm

This was in this weeks Chronicle...anyone else feel this is total rubbish?

Residents living near Mogden sewage Treatment Works
Have been reassured by the area's MP that Thames Water is 'making every effort' to reduce the stench from the plant.

Ann Keen - member for Brentford and Isleworth - visited the site recently to see the improvements being made to combat the odour problem.

Her constituents have long complained that a foul
smell from the plant - the UK's second-largest treatment works, serving 1.9 million people- engulfs the area.

But, according to Mrs Keen, managers are putting in place promised
improvements, including fitting covers to prevent
odours escaping from many areas of the site.

"I fully sympathise with my constituents who are
affected by Mogden, but after this visit I can assure
them that Thames Water is making every effort to
reduce the plant's impact upon the public," she
added.

"I will continue to make representation on their
behalf to make sure that Thames Water continues to
battle the problems of odour and mosquitoes at
the Mogden site."

An odour control unit has been fitted to remove and
treat smelly air from inside the new covered areas, and
is expected to reduce the stench significantly.

Mogden treats an average of 500 million litres of
sewage from north and west
London every day.

"We're making good progress and are on track to
complete our work in August next year, when
there should be s significant reduction in odour"
said Nick Fawcett, project manager for the
improvement works.

I have to agree with Her that things are improving.
I live right on top of Mogden and over the years things have got better with smell.
Though we are still getting it i would say its not often or as bad as say last year.

I have to say though if Thames sorted all these problems out years ago there wouldn't be a court case between them and us residents.

It also seems funny that since us residents took legal action that Thames is doing all this work.. Wink Wink

Anyway summer is here meaning lots of bites from the Mozzies.

Oh Thames please sort your bloody crossing gate out in the middle of your plant that siren it never stops sometimes.
