Revised proposals to build flats on the old West Mid site will go before planning chiefs this week after residents raised major concerns about the earlier designs.
A consortium including Inspace Homes Ltd, Notting Hill Home Ownership and English Partnership aims to put up 200 homes on land next to the new Hospital and Isleworth Cemetary.
Officials have approved the application in principle but it still needs to be decided by Hounslow Council's sustainable development committee on Monday.
There was widespread consultation with various organisations inc The Isleworth Society, Brentford Community Council and St Johns R.A
But the plans had to be amended following criticism by several groups, inc the Association which argued the scheme was an "over development" of the site.
"The architectural designs is over imposing and is out of character with the surrounding area, especially as it is adjacent to a conservation area" it responded.
Planning member Keith Knight said he has not yet seen the revised plans so could not comment any further.
Old hospital buildings dominate the 5 acre site, which lies on the Jcn of Twickenham and Park Rd's and Neighbours Isleworth Riverside Conservation Area and Syon Pk.
Under New designs, the number of homes has been reduced by 18 while the developer has increased the number of family size flats from 41-50.
Blueprints for 2 of the 10 blocks have also been altered after concerns about their impact on views from the cemetery.
The development will contain 5 interlinked communal gardens and 2 play areas, while 1 block of 8 homes will have private gardens.
In return for planning permission, the developers will be asked to contribute nearly £200,000 towards Rd's and Parking improvements in the area.
The hospital started life in 1896 as the Brentford Workhouse Infirmary and underwent a name change in about 1920.
The proposals follow the £50million redevelopment of the Hospital which was completed in May 2003.
