Mary was born in London and lived for many years in Chiswick. After she graduated from Glasgow University, she joined Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) as a management consultant, specialising in the banking and financial services sectors. She has since set up her own consulting firm, and works in the City of London with large multinationals, helping them transform their businesses and develop their leaders.

Mary has also served as Policy Advisor to The Queen and the Royal Family in The Queen's Private Office at Buckingham Palace. Her role involved briefing the Royal Family and advising on the strategic direction for the Monarchy.

Mary is a school governor. She runs conferences in schools and universities to promote learning about business, and to encourage the aspirations and ambition of all students. She has also been an Ambassador for ActionAid, a charity working with poverty around the world and trying to make a difference in developing countries.

Mary enjoys sport, music, art, reading and most importantly, spending time with friends and family.

Mary's Experience

Mary has been a member of the Conservative Party for over 15 years. She was the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate in the 1997 General Election, standing against Charles Kennedy in Ross, Skye and Inverness West. She has worked with several leading Shadow Cabinet Ministers, including Liam Fox MP, David Willetts MP, Theresa May MP, Caroline Spelman MP and Lord Strathclyde, in policy areas including education, health and the constitution. She is also Chairman of the Conservative Candidates Association.

Brentford & Isleworth Conservatives are committed to improving life for everyone in what is one of the largest and most diverse constituencies in the country. More than 120 different languages are spoken across the constituency, from Chiswick to Hounslow. Many businesses - from family-run firms through to multinationals - are based in Brentford & Isleworth.

Mary wants to see a society where people work together in communities, sharing responsibility, trusting and supporting each other. Our focus is on the key concerns of the local community: better healthcare, a greener environment and improved education.

1. Making the NHS better
The local Conservatives will make sure that you are getting the healthcare that you need and deserve by challenging issues within the National Health Service, whether it be about funding or about the quality of service that is provided.

2. Safeguarding and enhancing the environment
Climate change is an issue that everyone is facing. More and more is being done by Hounslow Council to encourage residents to be more environmentally friendly and to ensure that carbon emissions are reduced.

3. Improving School standards
Education is critical to the success of the next generation and therefore is a priority for the Brentford and Isleworth Conservatives. They want to see improving standards across all schools.

4. Fighting Heathrow expansion
A critical issue that affects the residents in this constituency is the proposal for the expansion of Heathrow Airport a third runway, mixed mode and a continuation of night flights. Currently a plane flies over every 60-90 seconds. This continues to be a long and difficult campaign with the aim of reducing noise, pollution and congestion for those living in Chiswick, Brentford, Isleworth, Osterley and Hounslow.
